Depart United States

Meet GPY Tour Manager at airport.
Depart from the United States
Enjoy full meal/beverage service and in flight entertainment.
Crossover International Date Line.

     
Day 2  

Arrival

Arrive Beijing, China. Bilingual Chinese staff greet and escort you at the airport. Time permitting, enjoy a panoramic tour of the city, including the National ‘Bird Nest’ Stadium used for 2008 Summer Olympics. After dinner, check into hotel, and settle in.

     

Day 3

 

Tiananmen Square

Visit Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, and Mao Zedong Memorial Hall.

If time permitted, visit Dashilan– a prosperous business area that has existed since the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Tour the Central Conservatory of Music, the most prestigious music school in China. Participate in a workshop taught by a Central Conservatory of Music choral instructor.

Top off the day with a traditional feast of Peking Duck.

     

Day 4

 

Great Wall

Tour the Great Wall of China, one of the world’s architectural wonders—the only man made structures that can be seen from outer space. 1½ hour drive each way through beautiful Ju Yong Pass. Performance #1 will occur on the Great Wall. The historical significance and grandeur ensures an unforgettable experience for your choristers.

Attend an authentic evening show at the world-renowned Peking Opera.

     

Day 5

 

Forbidden City

Tour the Forbidden City, the world's largest palace complex. Having housed the imperial palace for some five centuries, it safeguards numerous rare national treasures and artifacts. Listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987, the Palace Museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world.

Tour Beihai Park, one of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved ancient imperial gardens in China. Located in Beijing, we’ll also visit nearby hutongs, or pathways formed along the lines of traditional courtyard residences.

The evening has a fascinating Chinese acrobatic show in store for your choristers.

     

Day 6

 

Temple of Heaven

Visit Temple of Heaven, which is the largest religious complex in China, where the ancient Emperors worshiped and prayed.

Rehearsal and joint evening concert (Performance #2) with an award-winning Chinese choir.

     

Day 7

 

Cultural & Musical Exchange

Visit a top-tier Chinese school where you will interact with local students and take classes in Chinese culture. Performance #3 and musical exchange with an award-winning school choir.

Spend the afternoon at the enormous Xiu Shui Market which houses 1,700 retail vendors and over 3,000 salespeople. It is a shopping mall with a wealth of traditional Chinese knick-knacks to bring back home for family and friends. It has become the city's one-stop shopping paradise for visitors.

The evening will be spend at the Wang Fu Jing Street night market. We’ll board an overnight train to Xian.

     
Day 8  

Xian

Visit the Big Wild Goose Pegoda and the Tang Dynasty Park (aka Da Tang Fu Rong Yuan).

     

Day 9

 

Cultural & Musical Exchange; Visit 8th Wonder of the World

Visit another top-tier Chinese school where you will interact with
new and interesting local students. Performance #4 and
musical exchange with yet another award winning school choir.

Visit the 8th Wonder of the World, the Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses. One of the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century it contains over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and even weapons that have been unearthed from ancient pits.

Take the overnight train back to Beijing.

     

Day 10

 

Return Home

Depart from Beijing International Airport. Arrive in the U.S. on the same day.
