Meet GPY Tour Manager at airport. Depart from the United States. Enjoy full meal/beverage service and in flight entertainment. Crossover International Date Line.

Arrive in Beijing, China, in late afternoon, Check in to school dormitory. Enjoy dinner and rest. *Except for weekend homestay, we will stay at a school dormitory in Beijing.

Exchange day at a key high school in Beijing Chinese Culture Classes: Chinese Language Class, History about Beijing, Temple of Heaven and the Palace Museum. Exchange activities with Chinese students. Enjoy Peking Duck Feast.

Tour the Temple of Heaven, the Front Gate (Qianmen Gate) and the Forbidden City.

(Fri)

Chinese Culture Classes: Chinese Tai Chi Fan Part One, Chinese Calligraphy, History of the Hutongs. Tour Hutongs on rickshaw. Visit Shi Sha Hai, Drum Tower and Bei Hai Park. Enjoy a Peking Opera show this evening.

Arrive in Wuhan in the morning. Meet host family and begin homestay. *We will stay with a host family while in Wuhan.

Exchange Day at a local key high school. Campus Tour, Chinese Cultural Classes: Chinese Kung Fu, Chinese Language Class, Ping Pong Class with Chinese students. Exchange activities with Chinese students.

Wuhan City Tour. Visit the Yellow Crane Tower and the Gui Yuan Temple. Experience local Wuhan street foods. After dinner, board the overnight train to Xian.

Arrive in Xian. Xian City Tour. Visit the Xian City Wall. Lunch: Hui street snacks (authentic Hui food street vendors) Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Tour the Tang Paradise Enjoy the Tang Dynasty performance, lion dance, “water film” movie. Check into hotel and rest. *We will stay in a hotel in Xian.

Visit the Terracotta Warriors and the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. For dinner, try the special Lamb Pao Muo, one of the signature dishes of the area.

Free day today. Last chance to shop for souvenirs. Pack up. Take the overnight train back to Beijing tonight.
20 7/10
(Sat)
Arrive in Beijing. Depart for U.S. from the Beijing International Airport. Arrive in the U.S. on the same day.


COST INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  • Accommodations in school dormitory and homestay while in Beijing. Homestay while in Wuhan. In Xian, 3-star hotel with double occupancy. Each room with private facilities.

  • Single-entry Visa to China, $155 ($130 plus $25 processing fee)
  • Travel medical insurance coverage (Up to $50,000 medical expense per person)

  • Transportation to and from home and Portland International Airport
  • Additional insurance (Trip cancellation/ interruption, baggage, flight, etc)
SUPPORT
  • Before the trip, GPY will provide:
    • Local support to trip participants and family
    • An information meeting, and a pre-departure orientation hosted by the GPY Tour Manager
    • Materials containing useful information about itinerary, travel preparation, destinations, communication, packing and cultural conditioning suggestions;
    • Fundraising opportunity and assistance
  • During the trip, GPY will provide:
    • A full-time, bi-lingual Tour Manager to accompany the group throughout the entire tour.
    • A full-time local bi-lingual Chinese Tour Manager to escort the group from arrival to departure within China.
    • Communication via website and email.
  • After the trip:
    • Souvenir CD with photos upon return
    • Exchange with Chinese friends
